FAQ for Updating to Version 25.10

Version 25.10 of ColorGATE software is out now! If you have a valid Value Pack, you can update free of charge. In this blog entry, we answer the most important questions about updating from your current version to V25.10.

Who Is Entitled to This Update?

All customers who have a valid Value Pack on the effective date April 28th, 2025 or later can update to version 25.10 free of charge.

What Is New in Version 25.10?

Our release notes for version 25.10 describe the changes and improvements since Productionserver 25.02 Build 25.02.18110. You can download them directly by clicking here (login required).

Where Can I Find the Installer for the Updated Version?

You can find the installer in our Service & Support area under Menu > Download > Software, or download it directly by clicking one of the following links for Productionserver, Filmgate, or Proofgate (login required).

Please note: If you are using a license with soft key and you are installing V25.10 as an update of an existing installation, the license you have in use needs to be revoked during installation for technical reasons. You can then reactivate the license by entering the activation code when you initially start the software after the update. This requires the software to run in online mode. If you are using your software license in offline mode, please refer to our blog entry on working with offline licenses.

Does My License Need to Be Updated in Order to Use V25.10?

If you have a V25 license and had a valid Value Pack effective April 28th, 2025, there is no need for any updates to your license. You can install V25.10 and immediately continue working.

If you have a license for an older version than V25, your license needs to be upgraded to V25 before you will be able to use the new version. Please note that the license upgrades are not rolled out automatically. Please contact our Customer Service (customerservice@colorgate.com) if you require a license upgrade. Please remember to include your license number. You can find a detailed description here on how to upgrade your software license.

If you don’t have a valid Value Pack, your dealer will be able to provide you with a quote for an upgrade. If you have bought your license directly from ColorGATE, you can also contact our Customer Service team
(via customerservice@colorgate.com or +49 511 942930). Please remember to include your license number.

Do I Have to Backup My Software Settings?

V25.10 will replace the existing V25 installation. You have three options for a smooth transition.

  • You can import the system configuration (program settings and job folder) from your current version to V25.10 via the Setup assistant. Existing data will not be overwritten.
  • You can also restore a previously backed up system configuration via the Setup assistant. V25.10 will replace the existing installation of your current version.
  • If you are going to use the new software version on another computer than the old one, you should now create a backup in your ColorGATE software via Options > System Configuration > Backup. This ensures that all settings, profiles, and printer definitions will be available after the upgrade. Check out this video or this blog article to learn more about backup and restore the system configuration.

You can find a detailed description here on how to import the system configuration and restore a previously backed up system configuration.

I Want to Upgrade From an Older Version – What Do I Need to Consider?

If you have been using an older version (as of V10) and just bought an upgrade, or if you already were entitled to an upgrade to V25 but did not yet upgrade, there are some additional things to consider:

  • Your license needs to be upgraded to V25 by our Customer Service Team before you will be able to use V25.10.
  • Before you upgrade to V25.10, please make sure that you have installed the latest build of your version. You can download the installer by clicking the link for Productionserver, Filmgate, and Proofgate (login required, download will start directly afterward). Then start the software and backup your RIP configuration via Options > System Configuration > Backup. You can find a detailed description here.
  • If you are using a version 24 software license, the license you use needs to be revoked before the installation of V25.10 for technical reasons. To do this, go to the Windows start menu and select Productionserver/Proofgate/FilmgateX > Productionserver/Proofgate/FilmgateX– Revoke License. More information about revoking your license can be found in this blog article.
