If you have not already done so, set up your network first. You can find out how to proceed and which network and print services are required in the section <em>Setting up the network<\/em> in our manual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Install certain modules:<\/strong> Some devices require additional software to be installed. You can find this on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorgate.com\/support\/en\/download?maincat=1&amp;cHash=3d8ca43378a83d608c6d0612b0a470f3\">Support Site<\/a> in the <strong>Download Area<\/strong> (login required) &gt; <strong>Software<\/strong> under the category <strong>Printer-Related<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Set Up Your Printer Step by Step<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this section, we will explain the steps you need to take for optimal printer setup.<a data-hs-anchor=\"true\" id=\"creating-a-printer\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Create a New Printer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a new printer in our software, proceed as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <strong>Printer<\/strong> &gt; <strong>New\u2026<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the assistant <strong>Chose Printer<\/strong> select the <strong>Manufacturer<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #e97132\">1<\/span>) and the model of the <strong>Printer<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #e97132\">2<\/span>).<br><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/04\/chose_printer_num.png\" alt=\"\"><\/figure><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For some printers, such as Epson SureColor SC-P50x0 Series, you can select an <strong>Embedded Measurement Device<\/strong> from a dropdown list. This is the default measuring device and will be selected for every measurement process. Select the filter <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MIM-Packages (Profiles and Linearizations)<\/span> to quickly find the desired file. The port type depends on the model of your printer. For more details about printer ports, refer to our online help section <em>Selecting Printer Port<\/em><strong>.<\/strong><br><strong>Note<\/strong>: If you change the port later, you will need to close the program and reopen it for the change to take effect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> to proceed with further printer settings.<a data-hs-anchor=\"true\" id=\"setting-paths\"><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Set the Paths for the New Printer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the dialog <strong>Paths<\/strong> you will set the storage location for the printer definition and an archive folder for your print job data (the data will be stored in this archive folder when a job is ripped or loaded in a hotfolder). Additionally, you will determine the path for the first hotfolder, which is applied to all new jobs by default. We recommend using the default paths. You have the option to create additional hotfolders using the <strong>Add<\/strong> button. It is possible to acquire additional hotfolders. For more information about the possible printer settings for a hotfolder, please refer to our online help in the section <em>Setting up Hotfolders<\/em>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Next&#8230;<\/strong> if you want to keep the settings in the hotfolder unchanged, or if you want to change them later.<a data-hs-anchor=\"true\" id=\"advanced-settings\"><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Make Advanced Settings for Job Management<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the next dialog <strong>Advanced Settings<\/strong>, you can specify how to automatically delete your jobs in the job queue (e.g., <strong>Delete printed jobs after x days<\/strong>) and what should happen to existing job backups (e.g., <strong>Overwrite existing jobs<\/strong>). <figure><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"469\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"height: auto;max-width: 100%;width: 700px\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/Advanced_Settings.png\" alt=\"Advanced_Settings\"><\/figure><br>For more details on these options, refer to our online help in the section <em>Advanced Job Management Settings<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Finish<\/strong>. The new printer will be placed by default in the directory <strong>C:\\ProgramData\\ColorGATE Software\\Productionserver23\\Settings<\/strong> under the printer&#8217;s name. If you make changes to your printer configuration later, click on <strong>Printer<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Save<\/strong> to save them.<a data-hs-anchor=\"true\" id=\"job-specific-printer-settings\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Define Job-Specific Printer Settings<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You also have the option to make job-specific printer settings.
