This is because they define various production-relevant parameters, such as the medium used, the ink and technical settings. These presettings are applied automatically during the printing process and &#8211; just like other forms of standardization and automation, e.g. via hotfolders or settings files &#8211; lead to a fast and error-free workflow in digital printing. And all this with consistent print quality at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What does a MIM combination consist of?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, a MIM (Medium-Ink-Metamode) consists of the following parameters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>advanced settings for color and process management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an ICC profile that is adapted to a specific medium<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a linearization file for precise control of the ink application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"284\" src=\"https:\/\/newblog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MIM_Bestandteile_EN-1024x284.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MIM_Bestandteile_EN-1024x284.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MIM_Bestandteile_EN-300x83.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MIM_Bestandteile_EN-768x213.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.colorgate.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MIM_Bestandteile_EN.jpg 1035w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combined as a MIM package in a .cmp or .cmpz file, these parameters are assigned to the existing directory structures of the ColorGATE software after import.<br>A MIM combination therefore exactly matches your printer setup with medium, ink and print mode and guarantees optimum results under these conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where can I get a MIM combination from?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are various ways to obtain a MIM combination:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the <strong>ColorGATE Support Site<\/strong> you will find a variety of MIM packages for different printers and media. He may be able to provide you with a suitable MIM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can also duplicate an <strong>existing MIM<\/strong> in Productionserver and <strong>adapt<\/strong> it to your requirements (this is described in the <a href=\"\/en\/tips-and-tricks-for-mims-part-2\" rel=\"noopener\">second part<\/a> of this blog article).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If none of these options are suitable for you, you can also <strong>create a completely new MIM<\/strong> in Productionserver.
