However, the market for these printers has changed significantly and many of the models that Filmgate was originally designed to support are no longer available. However, as these models are being phased out, finding replacements that meet the same standards has proven to be a challenge.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Current Challenges with Newer Printers<\/span><\/strong><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As we evaluate newer printer models, we&#8217;ve encountered several issues that affect their compatibility with Filmgate:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Epson SureColor SC-P7500\/9500<\/span><\/strong><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These models are among the last from Epson where it was possible to bypass the Epson Precision Dot processing and reach high resolution (2400&#215;2400 dpi). However, they can only achieve screen rulings of up to 70 lpi, which falls short of the standards set by older models. Because of its special double head configuration, it does not match the precision offered previously.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">Further testing of the Epson SC-P 9500 indicated that the printer can be used for Filmgate up to a screen ruling of 75 Lpi.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Epson SureColor&nbsp;SC-P6500\/8500<\/span><\/strong><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Our tests on the SC-P8500 have been inconclusive so far. Initial prints looked promising, but the printer only uses matte black ink, which does not adhere well to film and smears on contact. This limitation makes it less suitable for high quality film printing.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Canon IPF TX-2100\/3100\/4100<\/span><\/strong><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These Canon models allow direct printhead control, but the UV density achieved is currently insufficient for our needs (&gt; 3.0), although we are experimenting with adding yellow ink to improve the results. While we are actively researching and testing newer printers from Epson and Canon, no current solution fully matches the capabilities of the older models.
